I met Cloudman (TC) at GOTG this morning and was ready to bail, when Todd showed up and hopped out of his truck like it was a toasty summer morn. And whadda ya know, clouds showed up too - go figure?! At first, they stayed south, then swirled around the peak with some interesting cloud shadow going on in The Garden. The temp. at sunrise was -12, wind chill around -25'ish. Two other non-NPN photographers showed up with white lenses - they looked cold.
Thanks to Todd for the crazy ice fog/clouds!
Here's one with cloud shadow - comments appreciated.

Nice contrast between the warm reds and the snow covered everything else.
Now I'm kicking myself for not dragging myself out of bed. I planned on going but then the forecast said clear skies and cold so that was my excuse for not getting up. But I'm glad someone took advantage of that view.
Nice shadow. Nice layering provides some nice depth to the image. Before I went to bed last night the windchill was -36. Can make some interesting pictures though.

Nice shot Dave. I have to say I don't regret not being there. I'm a warm body person. If it as 30 degrees warmer, it still would have been cold.

I love that spotlight on the orange rock. One of the best GOTG shots I've seen!

Love the layers, colors and light. This morning was the likely the "right" morning just after the storm. I'm hoping there's still some clouds left in the backrange tomorrow morning. Thanks for sharing!

Spectacular. I also really dig the clouds and the lightplay on the rocks. Looks like it was a nice morning to be there, despite the cold temps that is!

Great stuff Dave, it works for me.

Love the spotlight effect on the sandstone, and the clouds are icing on the cake! Did you pay Todd for the use of his clouds?

Nice shot Dave, as said that spotty light is great!

Beautiful image, Dave. That spotlighting gives a wonderful sense of depth.

Like Jack, this is one of the best GOG shots I've ever seen, as well.
Love the 'spotlighting', the compressed telephoto perspective (assuming you used a telephoto lens) and how the light clouds add so much dimension!
Aren't you glad you didn't bail?

has a nice 3D pop to it, and the light is suhweet indeed!
I'll just echo what everyone else has said, fantastic photo!

Yup. This is a freakin' killer! What an epic morning, snot-stache and all. No cloud payment required, you get a free cloud session with every Boulder delivery you make for me.

Very nice indeed. When I left for work this morning it was still dark and a frigid -9. It would have taken some heavy nudging to get me out for photos.

Awesome! The light on the foreground really distinguishes this one. Indeed one of the better GOG shots I've seen.

The layers of light make this one really special. Excellent color as well. Also, the tele compression give Pikes Peak a looming over quality.

One of the best I have seen from GOG... amazing light... great job!!!

Nice, Dave! GOG was my back up plan in case it looked like the roads were too bad out in Lake County--so im glad you got some shots cause i figured the conditions would be good there too.
Nice warm tones in a sea of cold colors. These cold temps make me wonder what all this talk of global warming is all about.

You certainly hit the jackpot! Excellent image.

That's a really sweet shot from the Mesa Overlook Dave. Brrr cold though. I was in Cheyenne Canyon this morning and my fingers darn near froze to the focus knob on the 4X5.

Spectacular Dave. Certainly the best shot I've seen from the overlook. Love how the blues surround the warm colors of the rock.

Like how the mtns in the back are in a little bits of mist, really makes the red rocks jump out.
