Floris returning from a morning shoot in the Alabama Hills. Hopefully I'll have some other images to share from our recent Sierra/Death Valley adventure.
Cheers!

Great image Eric. That blue coat would have looked great on anybody....
What I want to know is why Floris has his tripod all collapsed? Nothing exciting to shoot? I guess the lightshow is over?
Great light on the peaks here. No doubt you came home with a few keepers.
Sweet! You know, I totally thought you were grabbing a shot like that on my way back, glad you did!
Lon - I liked the predawn light best for what I was going for (though I'm not sold on the shot yet.. maybe it'll grow on me), I did grab some first light too, but wanted to get out to some plants before the sun was all the way up... usually I stick around till the light is totally stale. Plus I was still a little annoyed that we weren't 5,000 feet higher shooting Whitney in the 65mph gusts... (not that I wanted to hang out in those gusts).... and that the predicted clouds didn't show up... in short, some days just don't work out as intended

Yeah, where is the storm? It looks like a summer day, except for the jacket.

Very cool image. I like the path twisting into the distance. Floris' jacket, even as small as it is in the frame, screams cold and windy
Yep, I've seen a few sunrises out there over the years. Admittedly, it sure can get cold out there at times as witnessed by Floris' attire here.
Eric & Floris, this really is an excellent Man in Nature shot IMO. You might post it there if you have not already.
I know the last time Cory and I were both right at this exact spot they did not have the rocks lining the pathway Floris is walking in. Looks like a good idea as there were at least three or four make-shift trails taking place headed out to Mobius.
Eric,
Nice image and nice conditions. Love to see more images from this trip. Best Regards.

Ain't no summer day with those shadows on Whitney. Summer sunrise the light is almost straight on Whitney's face. The best light on Whtney is on the winter, when the sun is coming up almost over the southeastern end of Owens lake and the light is more directional than face on. It's looks like this is the trail to the famous arch. This is a good shot, but I can't wait for more Eric .

The Alabama hills and the Sierra around Mt. Whitney (what a gawd awful name for such a beautiful mountain) is one of my all-time favorite places.
Thanks for sharing!

Wow, I don't remember nice trails like that there. Makes me feel a little old. Love how the AH's crest mimics the Sierra's crest, which happens so much on those parts. Nice one Eric.
