Hey Everyone,
If anyone would like to come to the NWT I have a client that is currently renting a House Boat in Yellowknife. I can get anyone interested some info if they like. Just send me a message. I should let you all know that it is -33 today with a windchill of -54. You may need extra camera batteries in our weather, lol.

I can handle the temps, but is there any light now? Hey, do they let people drive on the ice road if they want?

Hey Kent, It is light from around 10:30 am to about 3:00 pm. After Dec. 21 we will gain about 7 to 8 minutes of light a day. And yes there are some ice roads which are open to the public. Actually there is a place just outside Yellowknife that is 11 km closer (by road) in winter then in summer.

If these temperatures hold we might get some sun dogs.
And there is the Aurora. Check out James Pugsley's site. http://www.astronomynorth.com/
Would it be likely that a person would be able to photograph caribou? If not in winter, when would be a good time?

Hi Eleanor,
Caribou can be photographed outside of Yellowknife, it is just a matter of know when they are migrating. I have seen (and have been on snowmobile near) a couple of hundred as little as 40 km from the city.
