I've never been a huge fan of the color isolation technique (or HDR really), but I took this shot of some v. creeper in full fall color mode, the late afternoon lighting created some really cool shadows, giving a raised 3D effect to the leaves. I thought if I could increased the contrast on the bark and remove the color that it would make for an interesting shot. I would love to hear what you all think.

I think that the color isolation works for me on this shot. It really makes the leaves pop.

From my perspective, the problem with both color isolation and HDR is that they get overdone. However, there are shots where that level of processing really works for me, and this happens to be one of them. I think it's superb.

Thanks. One other thing I didn't mention is that I shot this at 20mm, so the distance between the leaves and tree is exaggerated a bit, and the shadows are emphasized.

I like it too. I'd probably try backing of the saturation a few points, but that's just my taste - and it may not work as well. :toast:

Cheers, Steve

I don't do these types of photo manipulations myself, but I am really enjoying this Jason.

That color really pops in the otherwise subdued scene. Well done!
