Friendly Mipit
One from earlier in the year. A cold morning so this one was puffed up like a robin.

1D3 600mm ISO:200, 1/160 sec @ f/7.1

Thanks for looking

I like the angle, and the expression. I can feel the chill from here!

Hey Simon
Lovely portrait and I particularly like the way his feathers seem to match the texture and tone of the post, it balances it nicely. For a reason that I can't quite put my finger on I'd crop a slither off the rhs, don't know why as it's the space he's looking in to but I'd still try it.
Cheers

There definitely something that makes me want to take a bit off the right too - perhaps it's the darkest patch at the top of the post.

Lovely feel to the image Simon - he looks none too happy  :toast:

Would have to agree with the others Simon although would it all be in pro, ie: if you take a slither off the rhs then would that apply to the top too?.

A nice specimen, and the colours are all very sympathetic to each other :toast:

Hi Simon,

Very nice! I also like the comp as it is, although I find the right side of the face a little odd, just because of the angle the pipit is looking I guess.

Cheers,

Lewis.

my first thought was also to take a bit off the right, but a great image as it is. Lovely pose and background.

Hi Simon

A slight pity about the post not being the most attractive but the bird and pose are bonny.

Cheers,
Chris

Lovely image Simon although agree a little off the r/h side might improve the composition. Super detail though. :wavey:

Nits covered, a delightful image and a pleasure to view.

Muted colorations work really well with the bird here - you can't always have lichen covered posts as there aren't that many in use any more (other than by photographers)!

A nice image but I have to agree with Lewis - the angle has given the right side of the face a slightly distorted look

Smashing image although I have a feeling its a bit narrow (only slightly though). Beautiful tones and spot on exposure.
