Where's Wally?
A goose blast off is an amazing sight and sound and always makes me think of the little man in the stripey hat!

This was the biggest group take-off of last week in New Mexico with these Snow Geese, and as they come overhead you have to watch your bags and selves for droppings: guesstimates on this group between 10 and 15 thousand birds. Quite amazing as a spectacle.

Doubt the small JPEG will do this justice - a big print will be going on my office wall for sure as the detail is amazing!

Not UK or Europe I know but this forum is my spiritual home.

Your right I think a hige print of this would be outstanding, maybe even a panaramic crop of the top 3rd?

Great

Great shot Mark, I agree with Craig as a panoramic crop could work really well.

Brilliant...but were there more geese than photographers??!!

Did you do any slow ones?

Nice, done something similar with Brent Geese last night but no where near this scale lol.

As others have suggested, would love to see this big.

Hi Pete - I have shot's from every shutter speed known to my camera so you'll just have to wait for the slow one!!

As for photographers Bosque itself is generally perceived as disappointing this year (it's all relative of course) as there was no corn in the fields due to a farmer getting sick or something but some good nosing around found another new reserve about 30 miles or so away where all the geese and cranes were because there was food. When I took this shot there was only my group and 2 others there!!!

Can't beat fieldcraft even in a land of easy opportunity!!

Hey Mark
Good trip then? Looks like a fantastic wildlife spectacle, it's little wonder that it's so popular and I would love to go there at some point. I agree about comments re larger size as it is difficult to pick up on the details but looks fab anyway.

I agree with the above BUT! :frown:

The 3rd goose on the left hand side & the goose close to the bottom right hand corner about an inch in is slightly out of focus, personally I would of added a tab more depth of field to get these 2 geese more in focus

Hi Mark

I was really impressed by the sound of the knot flocks on take off at Snettisham this year - this must have been even more spectacular. An amazing event.

Cheers,
Chris

Doesn't really do it justice at 720p but I just know this will look great as a huge print. Nice one :toast:

I have to contend with a flock of Pinkfeet or Brent and they are pretty impressive at times. This just looks an amazing site and for sure there is an equally amazing sound going on at the same time.
