I was thinking about getting my Mom one for Christmas and don't know anything about them. I'd like to keep the price to under $150 and would like one that is 12' has a high resolution and where I can load between 10-15 high resolution files. I really don't care much about any of the extra bells and whistles. Any info/recommendations is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I gave and received digital picture frames last Christmas, so my knowledge is a year out of date. I found that generally the interface/controls are poor, the resolution is too low, the image quality is poor and they are overpriced. Some of them have inadequate storage, so you may need also to get a memory card. Once you get it programmed to run the slide show you want, it just does it's thing without giving any problems,

Sorry, can't give you any specific brand recommendations. Didn't find any that I could in good conscience recommend. I believe their target market is non-photographers. Some are better than others and it's not a straight line correlation with price. Surely they have improved over the past year. Do your homework. Good luck.

Find a cheap 2nd hand laptop with a good mat screen, reorganize the machines structure, calibrate it, and frame it?

Hey Floris, that's a good idea. If you can do it for under $150.00 I'll take one!!!
