Fall Color In Bakersfield
Bakersfield has a lot of colorful trees this time of year. I am not sure of the species, but this tree has green, yellow, red and purple leaves all at the same time. I took this shot this afternoon on my way home from work. It was overcast, but bright.

Canon Rebel XSI
ISO 400, f4, 1/250
EF 24-105 f4L IS USM zoomed to 105mm

Roland, Very nice array of color, the red and purplish leaves pop against the golds and greens in the background. The bright spot on the left pull the eye a little but the other bright circles are pretty interesting. Nice work.

Beautiful color and detail, Roland. The shallow DOF works really well. I would echo Steve's comment about the bright spot, but it is a nice intimate image.

Roland,

Nice, rich, color here and excellent use of selective focus and depth of field. I'll have to agree with the other guys about the white area; it's not terribly distracting, but does grab the eye. On balance, I think you did a great job in isolating these leaves.

Nice to know there is color in Bakersfield... the only color I remember is a freeway sign for Taco Bell... Just kidding!

Thanks for the comments guys. I will clone out the white spot. Since the background is so out of focus it should not be a problem.

Yes, Bakersfield is not thought of as a photographer's destination. Over time, maybe I can show you a few highlights. After all, as the photo shows, a river runs through it.

At least I don't live in Barstow.

If you can clone that specular highlight out or have another comp with the fg leaves obscuring it, that would make this shot perfect. I like the mixture of colors captured here. And you get bonus points for making me chuckle with...
