It's not all about big blast offs with Snow Geese and as this smaller group fluttered off at dusk to their night-time roost slower shutter speeds gave a completely different feel to their departing.
Very arty,like it a lot!!
Do you have any closer slow shots without the sky?

Hi Craig - I have more snow geese shots than I can process in a lifetime now so in amongst them are certainly some as you describe.
ith this, more colour in the sky would have been nice but I liked the way the speed and visibility of the birds changed and disappeared as they took off into the sky.
Lovely feel to this Mark. The use of the geese as a diffuser to throw out the landscape is really good. I'd love to see a more detailed view of the blue bit in the middle suffused with geese, and the hills behind them, which has got a beautiful painterly feel to it, and the colour is very evocative. And just enough shutter speed to get some detail too. Lovely shot.
Hey Mark
I really like this and the shutter speed that you've selected is bang on for its effect. I can understand what you mean about the gradual shift upwards in the density of the geese but I would crop it to a horizontal, from about an inch above the hills to that convenient line along the bottom. That way you have the contrast between the static grass and the moving geese and a much tighter image. But that's just me and I'm a bit of a numpty so I'm best ignored

Here's the square crop version I did - think this addresses many of the questions/concerns??!

Definitely the square crop for me - can't put my finger on the reason though. Beautiful!

Hi Mark, I like this picture very much and I prefer the original crop - the square one looks a bit too crowded and one dimensional to me. But that's me.

Love the sense of 'movement' the slow shutter speed has given this image, wonderful light and colours too first one for me

great light and composition to this and the blurred geese look really good, think i prefer the square crop though

I don't usually go for "Arty" shots, but the focussed grass at the bottom emphasises the movement of the birds.
Very nice shot Mark. Up to your usual high standards.
