Saw this posting on APUG.org. I am sure everyone here may have a few extras Christmas cards and thought they might want to send one. If someone maybe can bump this up higher in the Nature Photographers forum so it may go national that would be cool.

Special Request from a 5 year old. . .

With the company I owrk for, there is a woman who volunteered for the Polar Express last weekend and she met a 5 year old boy with terminal cancer. . . The boy, named Jacob, isn't expected to live another year. . . When asked what he wanted for Christmas, he asked for lots of Christmas card from lots of people. . . Can you join my wife and I and help make Jacob's Christmas wish come true?

If you would like to send Jacob a card, his address is:

Jacob Hadcock
127 North St.

you sure this isn't spam? it sounds suspiciously like an urban legend-type email i've gotten a few times.

Not spam. The kid does have cancer not terminal but it is true he asked for a bunch of christmas cards.

My Uncle Paul lives in Mexico, NY. It is a tiny town north of the thruway and near Oswego from Syracuse and gets monstrous amounts of snow. If he is around I will check with him to see if this is real or fake. Sounds suspicious.

it isnt like they are asking for money. And if the concern is privacy dont include an address.

I thought I had read something like this before, so I went to snopes.com and checked this out. Snopes gives it a mixed rating stating some of it is true, and other parts are false. Here is the link to snopes,, http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/medical/hadcock.asp

Mark, I don't think you were supposed to open your Compuserve gift under the Christmas tree til next week. BTW, I've got a line on a Nigerian prince who is trying to spirit several million dollars out of the country, and he could use your help. He promises to make it worth your while.
