Whoa, check out this photo on the NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day website. This ain't your typical Geminid meteor. Imagine seeing this last Sunday or Monday night. I would be wondering if some celestial traveler was paying me a visit. No worries though, meteor showers on cloudy nights seem to be the standard for central Missouri so I need not be concerned about losing any sleep.
I highly recommend this website for daily photos and text explaining astronomical subjects.

I saw one like this early one morning on my way to shoot photos and it scare the gageebees out of me. I thought someone fired a missle or something.

Tim, I once saw two earth grazers as I drove along I-70 one evening. They were very bright, slow, and travelled side by side. I thought for sure aliens were landing about a mile away near the Callaway County Nuclear Power Plant.
