Bosque ah Bosque
Just back from New Mexico, seems like less birds this time, fewer snow geese and cranes was my impression. But getting good shots often depends on singling out small groups so that worked out better. Good news was that there were few other photographers there.

Enjoy.

Mostly shot with Nikon D300, 300mm f4 lens with 1.7TC, handheld or beanbag.

Cool shot, Bill. Is this the only one you got? HA! Looks like a really productive trip. I like the shots with the trio of birds and their reflections.

Looks like you got some great shots and had great weather to boot. Hope you had a wonderful time.

Sally, it was a blast, calm spells filming ducks then hard work chasing harriers around! Amazing to see the cranes frozen into the ponds. Lots of mammals, mule deer and coyotes. Bald eagles etc. Why don't they have otters and mink? Lots of sunshine, I went on my own this time to get my creative time! But met some other really nice photographers.

Some images evoke sadness, and some laughter, the latter for this one. It's called "near collision". The crane standing had to "duck?" as the other one did his fly-by. or maybe its called "Duck?".

Looks like a great trip. I have to take my kid back to school in Roswell around mid-January. Might have to plan a different route on the way home.

Thanks Bill. Wonderful shots. The silhouette jumps of the screen. Hope to get back there soon.

Nice Shot. I like how you captured the shoreline gradient at the top. That really helps the composition nicely.

I love Bosque del Apache and try to go about every weekend. There are some fantastic things happening there. Nearly everytime I go there I see something different. I spent 3 hours two weekends ago watching a pack of coyotes trying to catch the Sandhill cranes. I actually like to go in the late spring as well. After the crowds (and Sandhills) leave, there are some nice photo ops with the birds of prey and Red Wing blackbirds and Deer.

Nice Job.

Really nice collection of shots, Bill! I like the silouhette as well, but there are many others that are downright excellent.
