I shoot in RAW and my work flow is to use the organizer in Elements 8, then import into CS4 for editing. Previously, using Elements 5 and CS3, I would choose the image in the organizer, click "Edit in Photoshop" and the RAW image would be brought into PS ACR, then into CS3.
However, since I have upgraded to both Elements 8 and CS4 the image from the organizer goes directly into CS4 as a jpeg, skipping the ACR screen.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It is extremely cumbersome to have to choose the image in the organizer, then identify the file number, bring up CS4 and then open the image into ACR that way.
I installed the new Camera RAW 5.6 update this morning. I was hoping that would solve the problem but it did not.
Thanks for any help...

Ron, sorry I can't help. I use LR2 as my organizer and then into ACR. I hope someone can get you the answer as I am sure it can be done the way you want.

You may need to reset the Preferences in Elements.
Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Edit.
Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file.
Click 'Yes'. Elements will open with default preferences.
Set any custom settings and close the program. The preferences file will regenerate when Elements closes, and save your custom settings to the new file.
Reopen the program and hopefully all will be well.

Thanks John.
I tried it but it didn't work. Perhaps I should have mentioned in my original post that I'm running Windows 7 if that makes any difference.
Maybe I'll have to switch to using Bridge as an organizer. Hate to though, so if you or anyone else has any more ideas I'm all ears...

Have you installed Camera RAW 5.6 in Elements yet?
If you plan to try it, be sure to read the 'Read Me' PDF file because unlike CS4, you'll need to manually disable the previous version first.
Here's another attempt at a fix.
Right click the RAW thumbnail, then click Update Thumbnail. If the thumbnail is updated and replaced, what you need to do is select all images, then do the same thing to Update all thumbnails. May take a while, but if it works for one, it will work for all.
If that doesn't work, then try resetting the Preferences in the Organizer itself.
The easiest way to do this is to get to the folder where Elements stores its preferences file (PSA.PRF) and rename it to something like PSAOLD.PRF
The preferences file is stored in C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Organizer
If you're having trouple finding it, do a search for PSA.PRF
Then restart Organizer, and it will build a new default based preferences file. Exit Organizer, then restart and try the first thumbnail update routine again.
