Very nice image, Larry. I like your composition, and the various grasses add a lot. The colors are good too - not too much for me.

If possible, I'd suggest trying to restore a little more detail in the brightest part of the sky, and there seems to be some color casts on the right half of the tree line.

I like it. The light hitting the grass is wonderful. There are two things that seem unnatural though... there is a sudden color shift in the distant tree line from left to right, and some magenta and purple colors in the tree line to the far right. Still it's a beautiful image Larry.

Hi Larry,

Photomatix is a very nice tool to have in your box. Very easy to use and does a fine job of blending multiple exposures. So easy that before one knows it things can get a little out of hand. I find it difficult to judge the end result right after doing the blending. Sometimes a later look results in additional adjustments.

If a natural look is what you where after, for me this image has too much brightness in the grasses with somewhat of a yellowish cast to them (which may just be the brightness) which seems a little unnatural. But hey looks like your getting the just of it fine.

You may find yourself taking multiple exposure shots of scenes you otherwise may not have, and I think that is the best part about feeling comfortable blending images. Like any tool whether hammer, saw or photomatix the more one practices the better they get.

Have fun, I look forward to seeing more great work.

I like it! The only thing that I'd do differently is the highlights as my brother also noticed. Shouldn't be hard to add a little more color in there.

I like it Larry. Hard to judge the color without being there when it was shot. On my monitor, I don't see any color shifts along the far tree line.

I see a definite color shift from right to left across the scene - most likely a result of lens flare. This would be difficult to correct, at least for me.

Larry, nice work, I would echo the other comments about the highlights, they seem to be hot. Just curious, can you share the details on the three exposures you blended in Photomatix? I have been experimenting and using -2,0,+2 on my blends. This seems to work fairly well for me. Photomatix is a great program.

Thanks for the comments. You have helped me.

These pictures were taken in dark cirumstances. The spread, which was asked by Tom, is as follows: 1) f/16, 1/8 sec, ISO 1100; 2) same except 1/4 sec; 20 same except 1/2 sec. This is a camera function. I could have taken up to 9 different exposures but did not. I have choices of 3, 5, 7 or 9 bracketed photos.

I think I'll take more if I think I have a really good shot. Why? Most of the lack of detail in the areas of the impending sunrise is blown on the slow shot. With more shots I could have stepped down several exposures for the right-side histogram shot. Red color is probably lens abberation and NX2 doesn't seem to do much with that.

I think its overdone. But, I had a print made which I thought was OK of another sunrise and it turned out lackluster and darker than I wanted, especially when framed... did not know frames made any difference but I think they do.

And as I've seen printed----colors sells!!! ??? So, with HDR or fusion I can see it is hard to keep down the comic-book appearance (grins).
