Hi all,
I've been on a bit of a photographic hiatus lately but I've been lurking around here and ES&S and everyone's work has been incredible. Anyway I decided to get back into the swing of things with a trip out to Yosemite earlier this week.
This is from Monday morning with pretty cool temps on the Merced River. I would have preferred to have a little different conditions, but there was a nice soft glow on the Brothers that I liked.
Comments and critiques are greatly appreciated! Feel free to be completely honest. Thanks for looking!

This is nice and makes me think I should swing by Yos before new year for some photos and snowshoe or something...
The photo is not amazing by any stretch, but it is nicely composed and pleasant, hard to take at fault. It's a good angle to clearly see the 3 brothers, which are not obvious straight on. It feels a tad too blue on my uncalibrated laptop screen. I wouldn't want white snow either since it's in the shade...

Mat,
Glad you were able to make it up to Yosemite last week. I'm itching to get up there too. Gotta wait for the next storm now.
This is a very nice view and image of the Three Brothers. I too really like the glow and light on the peaks - I think that makes the image. I think the colors are good. Compositionally, I like the shoreline as a lead-in but in all honestly, I might consider a crop of about 1/2 the snowy foreground. I think that keeps the emphasis on the Bro's. My only real nit though would be that I'm wishing the willow or big bushy tree wasn't obscuring part of the peaks. Did you happen to capture any comps from further downstream? It's a fairly long opening along the river from this area so if I remember right you can still get a clear view. Still, this is a very nice image of the Three Brothers and the Merced.

I never tire of seeing the Three Brothers. The soft glow and partially frozen Merced makes for a nice capture of this often photographed scene. I too was a little apprehensive about the bush on the right and might prefer a comp without it. But hey at least it's bare and allows the bg to peek through a bit and add to the sense of depth. Nice work!

Yeah I was unsure about the shrubbery one the right. I have some without it but ended up preferring this version overall. I think the next time I head up there I will try a slightly different spot. Thanks for the comments, guys.

I would concur with Lon's crop suggestion. Brrrr. I get cold just looking at the ice and snow. Sure hope I can hit Yosemite during a snowstorm this winter. It was off the charts nice last Xmas.

Looks like a good day for some floating on a raft in the Merced. Nice light up there on the Brothers. Sorry I couldn't make it up this time Mat.
