Breaks the rules Ian
But I like it.
The focus on the eye maybe ! + the eyelashes !
Cheers

Hi Ian,
Interesting shot, I also quite like it, I think because as John says, its breaking the "rules"!
Cheers,
Lewis.

Thanks for the comments chaps
I think thats why I liked it as opposed to the normal head shot. I could not believe how close they came to us.
Heres a repost with a more typical pose

I like both, but on balance, prefer the second. Soft lighting and colours with very intimate pose.

It's a bit like the Caper shot Magnus posted a while back Ian - Johns right, it breaks the rules.
It works for me, but I think I'd like more BG on the right and a pano aspect ratio of around 2.5:1 perhaps a little crop off the left aswell, just to focus attention on the eye more.
Nice one Ian

this image doesn t work for me sorry if anything would have rather it had all of the ears in the image but the fact it is facing the other way spoils it for me

Hello Ian.
Different composition but this works quite well helped by the shallow DOF and just keeping the eye sharp.

Interesting iamge Ian. Yes it breaks the rules but it does seem to work. However if you sit and stare at it it doesnt as the nose end being completly out of focus looks odd.
The silly thing is thats not what most people do and also they dont sit right on top of the image so I guess it does work after all.
