I was impressed with Andy Astbury's Cwm Idwal pano and thought that I would see what you thought of my first attempt which was taken in February 2004 from the C.I.C. hut below the cliffs of Ben Nevis shortly before we climbed Ledge Route. It was taken with an Olympus C-740 UltraZoom semi compact digital camera. Four images which were taken 'hand held' were stitched together. I had to clone in some foreground in the centre of the bottom edge due to the distortion but the resulting image looks good printed up to approx. five foot by two foot on 12 A4 prints stuck together. It all sounds crude now but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Hi Andy,
I like this and reckon seen big it would look good.
I think it could be be improved if there was a greater foreground element to the image though because it seems a little cut of at the bottom, if you get what I mean.

Thanks for that Chris. As this was my first posting on any forum I am pleased to have some positive feedback. I know that it isn't up to the usual standard of the images seen here but for a little 3MP camera I was quite pleased.

It is a good image that is certainly good enough for all forums. However you have got a good image as a result of your troubles. Blue sky would help, but obviously that sort of thing is out of your control. The North side of The Ben is a big lump of rock and I would have liked to have seen more either side to show just how big it is, but a very good effort anyway.
Climbing up to the CIC, up Ledge route and on to The Ben is a long day and stoping to get some images like this eats into the daylight available.
Thanks for sharing it, and try a few more, I am looking forward to a few more environment pictures.
Nigel.
p.s. I am not brave enough to add my pics yet....

Thanks for that Nigel. I agree with your comment about the lack of blue sky. During the climb we sometimes had blue sky above but snow was being blown over from the other side of the mountain! I have taken some photos from some precarious positions while mountaineering but the end result usually makes it all worth while. I will post one or two more from that trip, they are some of my best so far.
