Took a trip to Montana de Oro SP this Sunday evening and it was rained out. Then I went back Monday AM and it was windy and had cleared up. I really love the striated rock in this place. And for a state park it is usually pretty uncrouded which is nice.
Anyway this image was shot along one of the colorful rock striations. And it was a bit precarious with huge waves breaking and rolling in fast this day.
Note that the first two are blends which were necessary due to the extreme dynamic range (hence the foreground motion).

Derek,
I really like the one with the 1/4 sec exposure that has a hint of sun on the rocks that jut toward the center from the left. It also gives a better sense of the tides with the layers of breakers in the BG.

Nice use of those leading lines and placement of that shore-break wave. Good stuff!

I like the comp very much Derek. Nice use of leading lines and placed very appropriately...though it doesn't have all those sunrise glow but I really like the mood here...the curl of the incoming wave makes it very dynamic...
this place seems a must visit of the CANP'er

Thanks Debjit,
Montana de Oro has huge potential. I am really surprised we don't we more from that area. I think this is partly due to the fact that it is situated about half way between the Bay area and SoCal. Hence not a lot of ppl make it down that way. I know I definately plan to go back. In the Spring poppies are known to carpet the area. But just the striated rocks alone make the trip worth it.

Montana De Oro is awesome. I try to go at least once a year. I'd go alot more if it were a little closer to me. My sister owns a vacation house in Los Osos so I always have a place to go. Hope to get down there in April if the flowers are at their peak.
Nice image with a great comp. I wouldn't mind seeing the foreground lightened a bit. All in all a great representation of what M de O has to offer.
