I have been a member her for a long time but just haven't posted anything yet. I plan to this year though. My first will be after the new year as my wife and I are planning on going up to the LaConner/Fir Island area to hopefully photograph the Snow Geese and/or swans but wanted to make sure they were still around and for how long and if there is any other place in that are that we might go to see them. We are also planning on going to the Skagit to get some images of the eagles as well. Any suggestions and tips will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and a Very Merry Christmas to everyone.
Wes

FWIW, as I was driving up to a family get-together for some of the in-laws (no chance to bring a camera, BTW) I saw a number of swans in a field just south of Mount Vernon, so they should be around.
Hi Wes. For the geese and swans, you've got a good idea of where to start. But usually it ends up being a fun day of wandering around the valley in search of the flocks; no guarantees as to where they'll be. I've seen flocks well into February.
With the eagles, no problem. Just stop along the highway/river where everyone else is! Prime time is about now and for however long the chum salmon are running in to spawn. If you're interested in a different point of view on the eagles, take a raft trip down the river (it's not white water). In either case, bundle up; it's freezing up there.
Good luck, have a great time, and lets see some posts!
