GF on a wire
I've not been out much lately, but I got a chance to get to my local RSPB site just before Xmas with the hope of getting Goldfinches on frosted Teasel heads. That was not to be, so I settled for this instead....

iso400, 1/1600, f8, -1/3.

Love Goldfinches and that stern look... I do feel that critical focus is not in the right place here.. it seems to be in front of the bird (look at the wire), it looks like the light was a little on the harsh side which you have handled well and that bg is great...

Loads of these round at present and I like the lighting and background, perch just a little unfortunate IMO.

Background really makes the bird stand out. Shame it had to be on a wire and not on the teasel you wanted. Still, better to come away with something rather than nought

Little blighters never perch where you want them to, but never the less I would be pleased with this.

Like the shot Graham, the BG is a corker, though it is a little noisy but no big deal, as for the perch, yes, a Teasel would have been nice but I've seen them on worse perches than this.
