Saturday I came upon these odd ice shapes hanging from a limb just above the water in Herrods Creek in the Arkansas Ozarks. I was hoping the recent rain and snow combined with the low overnight temperatures would yield a lot of icicles in a canyon-like area I explored, but I guess the sun was out too much.

You may not have had the icicles you wanted, but I think you found a pretty good set. And you got the light right, so that the icicles seem to glow from within.
these things do have an odd shape to them, I don't think I have ever seen any like this.

Thats still not bad.
Be thankful your ice and snow lasted. Ours came and went so fast it already seems a distant holiday memory. Although they say we might get a little more tonight!

Yes these are interesting shapes for icicles. The cool blues and icy form gives me a shiver. Nicely seen & done.

Those icicles almost look like pea or bean pods - maybe the result of strong winds blowing the water sideways? Very nice shot in any event, John. Thanks for sharing.
