I posted this image on Man and Nature, but all the while was thinking it would be a good way to finish up here on the CANP for 2009. It's a view many of us have seen, I was passing through on a day that captured the mood of 395 and California's grand open spaces for me. Looking southbound from North of Coso Jct.
Happy New Year and may 2010 be as memorable as 2009

Paul, this is a very familiar scene for many of us So. Calers. One year that I met Cory Freeman in Lone Pine this grade was covered in ice. Cory called and alerted me from one of his Cal-Trans updates by cell just before I reached this spot. Thankfully I did not have to chain-up as they had just cleared the grade.

This scene really captures the scale of the eastern sierras. 395 seems to go on for ever. I can't wait to get back up there soon!

I really like the way the light breaks through to spotlight the truck and that distant road.
