Ok,
Yesterday my Eclipse cleaning solution arrived as well as my type 3 sensor swabs and a Eg-S precision matte focusing screen.
I proceeded to clean the 5D2 sensor and install the new screen.
I also finished the session with an auto sensor clean via the menu selection.
I went into the custom function and properly set the correct setting for the Eg-S.
Two minutes, BAM, done, screen in and camera clean.
Upon turning the camera back on the body wouldn't properly recognize the lens-aperture, giving a readout of 00 . As if I had mounted a third party lens.
I tried additional lenses, same thing, 00 in the display, and AF wouldn't function.
The Fix:
While carefully and oh so delicately selecting the auto sensor cleaning function with your right hand, take your left hand in a thrusting motion and bang the left the side of the camera three or four times.
Whallah! Camera works great now.
Trip to Canon service foregone ...

Thank god a little "MacGyver" treatment solved the problem. I still have to Eclipse solution and swaps from my 5D time. Do you know if I can still use this one with the 5DMII?

MacGyver? Sounds more like Arthur Fonzerelli to me

Yeah, I think it's more like the Fonz. MacGyver-style would have meant that Matt would have rummaged around in the kitchen utility drawer for odd items to string together. Of course, if he had just used duct tape to clean the sensor to begin with, all would have worked and Red Green would have inducted him into the Possum Lodge.
BTW, great ad image Matt! Sell that one to an ad agency in NYC somewhere... and, nice to see you have the right phone. Is that DSLR Remote running on it?
