Last Blue Tit of 2009
I would like to wish everyone on NPN a very happy New Year and thank everyone for their help and comments since I joined the site. I still feel I have a lot to do especially with my composition but with your continuing CC I hope I'll improve in 2010. :wavey:

Comp on this is fine, IMHO, Maggie.  Now that you've mastered (or is it mistressed?) bird imaging, how about some more macro stuff? All the best for the next decade, and thanks for taking the trouble to comment on my feeble efforts. :wavey:

If you wanted to go for a classic rule of thirds comp Maggie then the crop would look something like this - the angle of the birds head means he's looking at the lower right corner of the frame (eye line).

Personally I'd have had my x1.4TC on and shot it in a portrait orientation

A very happy 2010 to you Maggie - we'll speak soon no doubt :wavey: :wavey:

Nice shot Maggie... Lovely catchlight in the eye. Prefer your first shot of the blue tit IMO.

Just find the perch for such a small bird too large and overpowering.

Andy's crop for me , the perch is a tadge high and lowering it would have given a darker and more uniform BG .
All the best for the new year . :toast: :wavey:

I never tire of blue tits! I too like the alternative crop.

Thanks everyone for your C&C. I think I've cracked it now. I'll just take the photographs and send them to Andy for cropping. I'm sure he has little else to do
