It's very difficult at the end of a years photography to pick a favourite. I think after all the hours spent in the three pool hides , this one has to come near. I got many shots of this bird ,this was only one with the crest well up and with the head in the right place. And even then I had re built the background three times taking away loads of stones which were making it "busy "
Nice blue sky would have been nice to reflect in the dingy quarry water but you can't win 'em all !
Usual set up.
All the best to the mods and everyone for the coming year and may it be just what you all want it to be.
Cheers

Hi John,
Happy new year. Another top pool shot of a tricky species, love the raised crest!

Super Jay indeed and love raised crest - colours on the bird look fine but surround looks a little too orange/red.

Thanks all.
Philip- there is a deal of red in the back -some is Sphagnum heads and the other is the dreaded red sand in the quarry.
I took some out but maybe not enough.
Cheers
