My first post for 2010 - not very festively convivial, but you all know I'm a miserable git
A location familiar to a lot of folk, I wanted to get a shot straight up the waterfall as well as keep the visible peak of Goat Castle "in the right place". So this meant I had to let the water flow out of the right side of the image - if I moved to my right to get the water properly in the frame then I lost the mountain.
I'm not delirious with the comp because of the water exiting the image 'early', but I just love the light and moody atmosphere.
Now if someone were to blow up this rock in the foreground it would be very good for photography
D2Xs+14-24mm f2.8 @ 14mm
ISO L1.0 (100?)
f18 five shot HDR exposure blend.
LR3beta, PhotoMatix Pro and CS4
My best wishes for 2010 to all forum members

Hi Andy
Agree with your comments about the water leaving the image too early...but nethertheless a nice hdr image. I like the curve with the tree on the top right with the swirling cloud in front of the mountain.

Andy, I don't think the water leaves the image early at all, the rock at the bottom helps frame the picture nicely, I think. I like this, particularly the colour, and it's refreshing to see HDR not overdone
A really beautiful image straight out of the top drawer. Mood, tone, comp all with a North Wales slate grey feel, stunning!!
Best for 2010

Excellent subtle HDR effect. All the Best for 2010. Thanks for asking how I am after my op.
I'm feeling better than I was and am hoping to be back at work on Monday and therefore back
to 'normality'.

Hi Andy,
Superb! I don't know much about HDR, but love the feeling to this, I like miserable images ! Looks very primeval. Have a great 2010!

It's great to see people posting landscapes on UKPN! Love this image! The foreground rock doesn't distract for me but hey what do I know! Makes me want to try HDR!
Great to see I'm not the only one still shooting with the D2Xs

Cheers,
Lewis.
Getting very 'arty' in you old age Andy and it works very well with no nits.
The wizened tree top right really adds to the whole concept
All the best for 2010
(not a fan though of the heavy border which I find distracting)
Rob
A very happy new year to you too.
