Hermissenda Nudibranch, taken in the tidepools of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve near Half Moon Bay. My wife and I had been searching for this species for almost a year after vicariously being introduced to it. Yesterday was one incredible day at the tidepools, and I recall saying "all we need now is to see a Hermissenda", a second later I saw the color pop out of the seaweed. Not an easy photograph to take, its about the length of a thumbnail, under turbid ocean water, little light, and the darn thing crawls fast all over the place...good times!

really well done. That color is almost unbelievable.

Greg,
That is fantastic! Not only is it beautiful, colorful and all that, but from what I can see here you did a great job with all the technicals, macro, flash and dealing with the environment. Well done Greg!

Wow, what a wild one, you'll be chasing the dragon on this one. One the best tidepool shots I've seen. Congrats on an awesome find Greg! Happy New Year too.
Love the impact of this image. I like the way the darker bg lets this fine specimen standout. Only the size of the thumbnail... I would have never guessed. Very nice work!

Awesome! Looks like the underwater world of Jacques Cousteau.
