just back from a few days in scotland around braemar, more hiking than photography but still couldn't resist carrying the bare essentials of camera gear. This is from around 7.30pm on New Years eve. Temperature was hovering between 21 and 22 below at the time, though it had clouded over by midnight and risen to a balmy -10. When it was clear though the full moon was exceptional and i couldn't resist a few long exposures

I have never tried anything like this, and at those temperatures will not be in a hurry to do so! superb stuff.

At first glance, I thought this looked like an underexposed snowscape!
On further observation, I started to pick out the stars, and realised they weren't noise, and gradually my brain attributed the light to the moon.
Ok, you'd put in the topic title that it was moonlit, but I was trying to look at it (probably impossibly!) as a photograph in its own right.
The main reason for me just writing all that though, is that I very much enjoyed looking at the image and seeing different things in it, and it certainly conveys the chill very well!
So, congrats!

That's beautiful. Have looked at trying some night landscapes and I think this will give me the final push.
Bet the -20 bit was chilly though!

I have long been meaning to shoot some the shadows of trees on moonlit snow but have never got around to it. This image shows just how stunning moonlight can be so well done for a beautiful image, and the dedication of working in such conditions

Jack,
Nice image. From my perspective I would prefer it without the foreground tree shadow. Great execution as Pete has mentioned above and as one shot I would probably say its pretty close to perfect.
