One from yesterday. I didn't expect it to come so close and of course had a 1.4 TC on - unlike my recent Blue Tit! Sods law

D300
300mm f2.8 + 1.4TC
f5.6
1/160s

ISO 400

Has it spotted you, Maggie? It has a rather inquisitive expression, IMHO.

Disappointed was I - mae wee lassy leads mae to think she's posted a wee Yellowhammer IN FLIGHT :frown: :frown:

BIF is, or at least used to be, the acronym for Bird in Flight - so perhaps you can understand my thoughts!

Never a fan of small birds head on like this but it's well exposed and processed and the comp is pretty nice too :wavey: :wavey:

So what do you think BIF means then Maggie?

You touch on something that is also my experience, Maggie. If you are set up for birds at a distance, you can be sure that some little so and so that you have wanted to photograph all your life is going to come and hop about on your toes. Nice shot of a bird I rarely see these days, and I for one do not it head on.

It's great - a super shot, and there you were a few days ago - not seen one!!! Love the expression - looks as though he is really posing for the camera - and I have no problems with the grass!!!!!!

Good eye contact though I'd be tempted to lose a little off the bottom, just a little though!

nice shot of a bird I have NEVER seen - not usually keen on head on shots of small birds but this works ok with the rest of the comp etc

cheers
