I have been shooting some old tractors on a friends's farm east of Aurora, hoping for some nice images. Until now, I did not consider my images worth posting. These are 1940s Farmalls, rusty and long since out of use. I grew up on a farm and, as a boy, ran a lot of Farmall equipment, though none of it as old as these tractors. Shooting this old equipment is an exercise in nostalgia for me. Yesterday, the late afternoon sun looked promising so I loaded up and went out to the farm and did some shooting. Your comments and suggestions are always helpful. Thanks for looking.

As the color in the sky deepened, I decided to try for more of a silhouette look.

The old tractors present so many interesting and recognizable shapes it is difficult to decide which to shoot and how to compose. I loved the holes in the old seat and its complement to the steering wheel.

#3 speaks to me more than the others. #2 is a close second. Nice job.

As presented, I like #3 best, but I think #2 would be best at sunrise. I've been playing with off camera flash a bit lately and I think it would work great on a scene like #2.
I like #3 the best, but #2 is close behind. I really like the silhouette effect. You should come to Kansas - we have lots of old rusty farm equipment sitting around just waiting to be shot.

Nice series. I think I like # 3 the best. Interesting subject well captured.
