I say we keep Orton* and Marshall and trade McDaniels. How 'bout you?
*yeah, three INTs sucks, esp. two pick-6s, but compare his year with Cutler's in Chicago.

With Brandon Marshall becoming restricted free agent, it's going to be hard for Denver to sign him again, as he'll be worth alot with no cap. Let Denver get the 1st pick imo, and avoid the McDaniels-Marshall drama altogether. This team needs some serious reorg anyway, why not start now... frustrating to say the least.

Personally I thought McDaniels did a decent job in his first year as did Orton. Yesterday's game was painful to watch as was the loss to Oakland, but the Broncos faced a stacked mid-season schedule and I think it took a serious toll on the team. Seeing the team implode year after year even with big changes, I wonder if the problem is not with the players though.
Put all of your frustration and passion into rooting for the Packers!

I think McDaniels did a good job...a much better record than everyone thought we'd have. It's unfortunate he and Marshall didn't see eye to eye. I think McDaniels is trying to build a team that has discipline and works on and off the field "as a team". I don't think Marshall fits that mold. If we can pick up some help on the offensive line in the off-season, I think next year will be a different story. You can't win games with the defense playing in your backfield, especially on running plays. That's how we've played the last half of the season.
Second verse, same as the first: too many defensive players going for the kill shot and not wrapping up tackles. An O-line having trouble adapting to a new blocking scheme. Injured players saying they are too hurt to play then not showing up for treatment sessions. Granted, Josh McD fomented some of his own problems but let's see what happens next year. Heck, I picked them to go 5-11 so I thought it was a good year.

Things could be worse....... how about having to watch lions lose are every year.
They have picked 1st, 2nd or third the last 6 years and they are still horrible.
At lest I had the oppertunity to live in Denver through John Elways whole career.
Now that was FOOTBALL I want to move back to Colorado.

I think Shanahan had about the same record his first year, though without the schizophrenia... Hard to judge with only 1 season to go by; I'd give him another year and see if he can learn what went wrong and make improvements. A new coach is just another unknown, unless they can land Cowher.
I struggle to see a bright path forward with Orton, though. He's competent (most of the time), but that's about it. Not many teams win superbowls with mediocre QBs. Ravens and Bucs did it, but they both had league-leading defenses.

Brandon Marshall is really good, but he's such a liability unless he grows up (not unlike Terrell Owens). I doubt that the Broncos will be able to sign him again. As for McDaniels, he's inexperienced and he's still trying to define himself as a coach. Some of his play calling has been awfully wacky this year and apparently he'll hold to his teamwork principles no matter the cost (even losing lots of games). When he was first hired, he said that winning was all that mattered. Now, a good attitude matters more? The Broncos will not win a Super Bowl with Kyle Orton. He's a good teammate, but he simply lacks the talent that the Broncos need for success deep into the playoffs.

I think they exceeded my expectations for the season, but it was a bit schizo! Orton and McDaniels can stay for my money. What happened to the defense, it was good at first and then at the end.... terrible!
I'm with you, Todd! I guarantee there will be more "attitude" incidents next year. I think the team quit on him yesterday because they don't care for the way he relates to players. Marshall has maturity issues for sure, but Scheffler just voice his opinion, which he has a right to do. This guy is an egomaniac. And Bill, you raise the question everyone is scratching their heads about. What happened to the defense in the first 6 games that only allowed 17 points a game? 34 second half points by the Chiefs????
Marshall is a restricted free agent, meaning he aint going anywhere on his terms. The Broncos will likely Franchise (pay him the average of the top 10 paid wide recievers) him so they do not have to commit to a long term deal this season. Once Franchised he can sign with another team however the signing team will have to send the Broncos a 1st and 3rd round draft pick.

Pitchers and catchers report in about 6 weeks...

Marshall is gone, more likely for a 1st and maybe a 5th if they can find a team to take him and his baggage. Sheffler is gone as well. I think McDaniels did a good job this season especially in his first year as head coach and amidst increasing expectations. If you would have asked any Broncos fan at the start of the season if they finished 8-8 and Orton would have 3800 yds, 21 tds and 12 ints, they would have gladly taken it. Based on preseason expectation I think they had a good year and have something to build on. And this is all coming from a Cowboys fan.

Shanahan's the winner. Looks like a potential 5 year 50M dollar contract with the Redskins.
Of course he'll have to sacrifice being around the Wash-a-tonian nut cases.

Marshall is a selfish ***hole and cry baby. I think he is the best talent at his position right now in the NFL, but he is a team destroyer and a distraction. However, with that being said, wish we could keep him! But, I wouldn't for the sake fo the team. If McDaniels had a brain, he would have traded him before the year knowing his contract was coming up sop we could have received a high draft pick for him in the least. now we will get nothing. What a waste!
