Winter Great Egrets
Along Hwy 365 at Lake Conway is the location for this image. The Great Egrets are eating the shad that has gathered along the backwaters. There were about 40-50 birds gathered in the area. I hope to go back out later this week when we get more snow and improve the background a bit.

This was cropped about 50 percent.

Matt showed us the pelicans a few days ago from Lake Conway and sure enough, there are several buzzing the interstate.

Nice shots Mike. We need to head out there together some time and shoot. I saw a group of pelicans in the water along 365 the other day. Pretty cool.

Nice shots Mike. Good luck on the snow.

I saw the Pelicans Saturday in the Wilhelmina Cove subdivision. I have a feeling that is where they are spending most of their time.

Both really nice. The flapping wings up top and the yellow beaks on the pelicans both really make the images.

I like them both......the egrets look grumpy like they are trying to keep warm.

Here is another in the series that I didn't crop.

Nicely done Mike. I thought these were warm weather birds. :-)

Where exactly are you parking for these hwy 365 shots? I know you can't park on the highway along the water, I was run off years ago by police.

I guess the police were too busy with weather related wrecks to mess me. This is under the railroad tracks next too the fisherman village/rv park. Where everyone fish for crappie. It's a narrow shoulder. It doesn't say no parking, but Barney does what Barney does best! He's too busy looking for his bullet.

I hope to be over there Thursday morning in the snow.

Just South of Gold Creek? I was there this evening and there are no parking signs. The crappie fisherman were the issue with the parking because they/we would line the highway.

Great job on this one Matthew. Color and tough exposure look great.

All are really nice Matthew but I really like how well you controlled the exposure and whites in the first image. Well done!
