Excellent! One of these gave me the run around this morning - it won. I find these incredibly difficult. You did well to get an open shot.

They may be common, but they sure ain't easy! A cracking shot of a beautiful bird.

Too often I find images of this sort either too messy and confusing with 'stuff' all over the place and the subject lost in the haze, or set against oof backgrounds so 'clean' they lose any sense of place. This image however is just perfect.

Subject placement is spot on, the triangular stalk to the left is a great touch - balancing the angle of wren tail, and the wee stalk beside it pointing at the subject is great, also the rising set of three stalks going away to the right, and the echoing of the stump shape in the background including the wrens head is just the icing on the cake. Sometimes the success of an image has less to do with any one feature, and is due more to a combination of a lot of elements that the photog has managed to combine at just the right moment. Like this one.

Would you have guessed I really like this?

Well caught. These are extremely difficult little beggars to photograph.

Well, just to be different, it looks a tad dark to me Phil but the comp works for sure.

A very nice shot with good compositional elements and detail throughout. I do however agree with Andy in that it does look a little dark all over but can easily be tweaked. Nice work.

A lovely detailed bird, and the setting is superb. It has everything - and no nits from me!
