Grey Heron-Ardea cinerea
Not much time today to go out so a visit to the nature reserve behind my house is always worth a try. Wanted to practice some flight shots and the use of my home made flash bracket and the Better Beamer in grey weather conditions.

Here's one of the results i got of a Grey Heron in flight.

Greetings,

Jeroen Stel

I've been experimenting with a similar setup and I think you've got the fill about right in this one. You might even have got away with a little more flash, leaving the background a tad darker and lifting the bird's shadows just a little. But I'd certainly be happy to have taken this!

Hi Jeroen,

I like the wings reaching the opposing corners. Good detailed shot.

Another local patch winner! Always worth a visit!

Plenty of detail in this one which has helped to lift it from what is a rather insipid looking sky.

great pose and the use of flash is close to perfect, makes me think of reflected snow, excellent image

Hey Jeroen

Nicely balanced use of flash with a nice monochromatic feel to it
