Black, Blue, and White
The original plan was to scout out some San Juan scenes while snowshoeing and skiing Magic Meadows at Telluride this weekend. But the blue skies and numerous contrails were just hideous for photography, so after having some fun on the slopes i decided to cut my losses and head for somehting more photogenic. I remembered from the drive out that Blue Mesa Lake was surprsingly not yet frozen, so i figured with high pressure building and the clear skies, that i might get some nice morning fog in the valley. So i shot sunrise at Balck Canyon, and spent the rest of the day roaming around in a thick fog bank that formed downriver. Here's the Canyon late morning when the fog started breaking up (2 verticals stitched)

#1 and 5 are my favorites and outstanding. #1 is great because it's not an often seen shot of the BC and clouds and light are sublime.

All nice, Stan. #1 is my favorite. I love the square format too. I'm a sucker for moon shots though so I like what you did with #4.

Great series (again), and of course, my favorite is the one you posted at ES&S.
I also like #'s 1 & 5 the best of the ones here. #5 is an excellent b&w shot.
You did a great job with the focus blending, as well. Not that hard to do, is it?

Funny, I was chomping at the bit to go to Telluride over the weekend as well until I saw how the weather shaped up. Bummer....but you got some mighty fine consolation prizes that's for sure! Way to adjust and make a productive trip out of it.

Wonderful Stan. I love the fog images.

I can't explain it but I really like #5 and #6, probably the moodiness of the fog. From what I understand you needed open water, a high pressure system, and clear skies keeping it relatively cold to predict the fog. I think I'm getting the knack for it. Thanks for your help. Any other tips you have would be much appreciated. Good shooting Stan.

Ditto on 1 and 5. Another fine series. Your love for winter comes shining through.

I like the first one the best. #3 and #4 are a bit too centered for my taste.
