Actually, it's the old low water bridge (natural) on Spring Lake Road. It is located near the northeastern side of the mountain, and is formed by Big Shoal Creek which begins in Bear Hollow. You can drive up to it, or across it, and there are several ledges that are not included in the image. This area is very scenic in the Fall, and the creek looks much like its cousins up north. The lighting was bad, but I was there and decided to get something to play with later.

Wow, what a pretty area! I grew up at Spring Lake...I'm sure in my youth I drove across it, but didn't pay attention to it's beauty. Very nice Jan!

Hey Jan, I was at this exact spot Saturday morning. I spent some time at the ledges below. When I am in the area, I always make sure I stop by and see what is going on here. This is the start of a pretty nice canoe run when there is more water! Nice shot, thanks for sharing.

Very nice Jan. I've been meaning to get a closer look at that waterfall ever since I saw it from the bridge downstream a couple years ago. After seeing your photo, I'm putting it higher up on my list. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks folks. There are many opportunities up and down Big Shoal Creek. As you may know, a large portion of the lower creek is slated to be damned and flooded by Tri County Water. This hasn't got much attention or opposition since most of the area residents are chicken farmers who will be using the water from the impoundment. I don't think this portion of the creek will be impacted. Tom, I have never thought of BSC as a canoe run. That must be quite a ride in high water!

A really nice shot Jan. A well controlled exposure and good comp.

I'm sure all you Arkansas photographers realize it but a reminder just in case. You are so lucky to have so many waterfalls, streams, boulders, wildflowers & fall colors to shoot. Most within an easy drive from your homes. And in a lot of cases you get to hike in/out to get your images so you get to enjoy the scenry along the way.

So count your blessings each trip out!

Just jealous in KC!

Jan, you produced a nice image despite the poor lighting conditions. I like the texture of the waterfalls.

I lived in Russellville for a few years and explored Big Shoal Creek several times. It's unfortunate that they're going to put a dam on it...
