I'll be at Beaver Lake (Rogers area) next week for work and hope to have a day or two for a little exploring. I've never been in the area before but I know there must be some good photo oportunities near there.
What are any suggestions for 2-3 hours from Rogers?
Thanks

Three hours from Rogers gets you within reach of most of the great stuff in northwest Arkansas, including most of the Buffalo National River and the Richland Creek and Hurricane Creek Wilderness areas, as well as the vast majority of the Ozark National Forest. These won't necessarily be the showcase now that they would be in other seasons, but they will still have a lot to offer.
If you've ever seen a picture from the Ozarks posted on this site and said to yourself, I'd really like to visit there some day, the odds are that it's within your driving range from Rogers. You'll also be within reach of much of the Ouachitas, as well as the river valley mountain areas such as Mt. Magazine and Petit Jean.
So maybe we can help you narrow down your options if you have an idea of what you would be most interested in.

You really should grab one of Tim's guidebooks. Will maximize your time.

I also learned raher quickly that the key to finding great photo opportunities in Arkansas is through Tim Ernst's guide books.

Yeah, the Tim E. books are the Arkansas Photographers bible. If you're into birds, I'd head to Holla Bend: http://www.fws.gov/Refuges/profiles/index.cfm?id=43590

Thanks all, I will try to find one of Tim E.'s books. That sounds like just what I need.
