I don't know about Richmond but Reading and Basingstoke are still under about 6 to 9 inches of snow with more forecast for Sunday and Monday, most roads except main roads are very treacherous. The area around Guildford/north Hampshire was even worse - By comparison I've just travelled to Southampton by train and there is no snow here at all, just ice. The Thames Valley corridor has been badly hit this year when normally it has a warmish microclimate

Local train services are largely unaffected and the most reliable form of transport at present, clearly we have the right sort of snow for once.........

Sunday looks like it will be carnage again around here. Unless you have a decent 4x4 Landrover/Discovery with narrowish tyres to chop through the snow give it a miss.

Bushy Park, which is only a few miles away was covered still yesterday. Be warned though, LOTS of people about so getting photo's might not be easy. I hardly saw any wildlife yesterday and all the ponds were surrounded by kids throwing snowballs etc. The ice was full of rubbish as well where people had thrown stuff in to try and break the ice.

As an alternative how about Dyrham Park, a National Trust property just south of J18 off the M4 - the parkland is in theory open all year round from 11am to 5pm, it has a very large herd of Fallow deer - but you may need to check current status given the current weather conditions, but it may also be chocker full of kids and sledges as it has a deep valley approach to the main historic house there
