Back to eagles
Back to a shot from the other day. Too much blowing snow today can't keep the lens clean. This one was just passing by wish there was a bit more contrast from the background but at least I caught the light right.
Sigma 50-500 lens @ 1000mm eq. 1/800 F9 ISO 400 Cropped just a bit to take him out of center.

Kendall

Nice shot!! Great wing capture!!!

With this cold spell and all the snow we have had, I am thinking of heading to the Missisippi to photograph eagles. How does the count total look to you so far this year in you area? Don't you live just a few hours away, so you must get there quite aften..
Any advice besides keeping warm? :frown:

Thanks
joe

The river has locked up enough around here that they are concentrating some. This site will give you an idea of where they are or were.

I have only been at the two Locks 18& 19 so far have had all the eagles I could handle both places. I do like to shoot on weekdays when there is less traffic.I am going to try to get up to 14 this Wed and will see how it is there. Will post something if I do.

Outstanding shot of the eagle. Question: what does the '1000mm eq' mean in the lens reference?

Another sweet shot, Kendall. You're getting a lot of nice details with these recent shots. Was he/she successful at catching lunch this time. You'll soon be posting one with 'fish on,' I'm sure.

Yoli, I'm pretty sure Kendall is shooting a DSLR with a 2:1 crop sensor, turning his lenses longest focal length (500mm) into the equivalent of 1000mm.

Nice catch, Kendall! Love the wing position and the tail feathers spread out. Looking forward to seeing more!

I think this is the best of your recent Eagle photos.
