I am in Fort Worth and seem to be one of the few folks from Texas active here.

You might check out the Austin Camera Club (think they go by that) as that might be your best bet to find someone in Austin.

You are right on the edge of the hill country there and can find several nice spring fed rivers and many state parks with a couple hours of the city.
