Linnet
Canon 1dIII 700mm f7.1 1/1000 iso320

Hi all

I've been spending a lot of time in my hide just lately and I can confirm that the weather is on the chilly side!
I've set up a supplimentary feeding site amongst a set-aside field of kale hoping to attract the interest of the resident flock of a hundred-or-so chaffinches and after a couple of weeks it's starting to yield results. They're coming down in large numbers now and attracting the interest of the other birds, linnets being one of them.
This fella made life very easy for me by perching directly in front of the hide...and then showed me what he was having for breakfast!

Hello Simon.

The lighting, detail and colours in this a lovely and I like the winter setting.

The only nit would be for a bit more room on the bottom and the right just to give the bird some more room and I think it would make the composion stronger.

Lovely image though.

Hmmmm...I have cropped in a smidgen for web viewing - about 10% all round - so I've got options but I think I like the composition as is, to be honest. I thought it accented the awkwardness off its perching.

A great shot Simon. Normally I would like to see more space but I do like this one as it is as, to my eye, the details of the seed in the mouth are a major part of the image and as such it needs to be seen big.
