Canon 7D, 300 f/2.8 + 1.4 TC, 1/200 Sec @ f 4.5, ISO 160...

Unlike Ryan's very cool experience, with this one, the Bittern actually got to gulp it down...

I love this angle and shot quite a bit more than mine. Very nice. I'm glad he didn't go hungry all day.

Nice catch David (and for the bird also). He looks like a mean one. there have been some nice avian images posted her lately.

I love your capture David, although the vole isn't looking too pleased with the situation. Seriously, love the pose, nice detail and habitat to be treasured here in this rare shot, congratulations!

That's outstanding David; what a moment. I've seen many heron and egret capture prey, but have never had the opportunity to witness a bittern do so. That's a real keeper.

Excellent! These guys are so elusive, I can hardly ever FIND them, let alone get a shot like this!

Thanks Sandy, nice to see you in the PNWNP space once in a while, you're always welcome here.

Mark, this was taken at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge just north of Vancouver, Washington...
