Hi all
Recently moved to the area and looking for places to shoot and increase my photo skills. Looks like an awesome site. Hope to hang out and learn from some of the best.
If anyone needs a partner to go shoot let me know. If anyone could recommend some workshops etc. this would be great as well.
eager to learn
Lynn

Welcome Lynn, your hardest job will be narrowing down places to shoot.
Posted by Lynn Scott on January 10, 2010 at 11:30 PM
I totally understand as I have been doing some homework. I have found three lifetimes worth of places to shoot :) I mostly want to learn, shoot and have fun doing both.
Im looking for people to go shoot with and take seminars, classes or workshops. I would classify myself as a intermediate photog.
I looked at your site and really top notch photo's and great site!!

Are you in Colorado or elsewhere? In Colorado, the best place to shoot is in the "kodachrome triangle" located between Pueblo, Lamar, and Limon. Absolutely breathtaking (especially near the La Junta feedlots)

Hi Stan
Glad you stopped in. I'm in Cheyenne, so not to far away to visit Colorado. I'm planning several excursions to several areas in Colorado. I will add the kodachrome tiangle to the list :) Appreciate the heads up!
The more I look around the site I'm very impressed. Might have to hang out a while. Very nice!!

Welcome, Lynn.
Have you checked out Vedauwoo State Park yet?
Also, Pawnee Buttes is just across the border.
If you have the time, I highly recommend driving down for the annual shindig in Denver later this month.

Hi Bill
I actually have been out to Vedauwoo. Was able to get some great shots of the rock formations. I have not been out to the Pawnee Buttes yet but plan on very soon.
What is going on in Denver later this month?

Welcome to the forum Lynn. If you're up in Cheyenne then you are in reach of the Northern Co hotspots, plus a hand full of places in Wyoming. As mentioned, in Co you have the Pawnee Buttes (particularly good when the Spring flowers are in bloom), Rocky Mountain NP (good anytime, but Trail Ridge Road only open in Summer). There are lots of lakes not far off the I-25 corridor between Cheyenne and Denver, when thawed you can use some to get mountain reflection scenes. In Wyoming you have Vedauwoo, and the Snowy Range/Medicine Bow National Forest to the west of Laramie. There are a handful of us NPN'ers to the North of Denver, if you ever come down this way I'm sure one of us could show you some of the areas/give you more detailed info.

Welcome Lynn, if you ever coming down to Utah area or close to let me know I am always looking for someone to shoot with. Utah has some beautiful Southwest scenery. Wouldn't even mind meeting in Colorado, I haven't spent any time there since I moved to Utah last year. I'm easy to reach by email and I look forward to seeing some of your images.

Welcome Lynn, looks like you're getting all the advice you need!

Hey Lynn, be careful what advice you take from Stan the Jokerman. The stockyards reference should be your first clue.
Don't know if someone else mentioned it, but you've got the Snowy Range west of Laramie practically at your doorstep. I'm sure the road is closed now, but it's a great summer/fall destination. Seems I remember there being a couple of national parks in Wyoming, like up in the NW corner of the state, but I might be wrong.
Welcome to the team. If you have the time and ability to get to Denver I would recommend you attend our annual party on Jan 30th. Usually we get a great crowd and get to talk with eachother about our upcoming plans for the year.

Welcome, and you have Veedauwoo (Vee-Duh-Voo) just to your west, amazing granite formations, edge of the shortgrass prairie, and aspen. And don't be afraid to head east and shoot the Great Plains!

Hi Lynn,
welcome to the forum. I hope you can make it to the shindig in Denver at the end of this month.
Welcome to the forum, Lynn, and do not listen to Stan! It's not far from where you are to Poudre Canyon west of Ft. Collins, and the mountains are due west from there. Very photogenic up that way.

Thanks Nick, Eric, Richie,Brian, Dave, Rene' and Morris for the warm welcome.
Nick I would love to come down that way and go shoot some photos or at least chat about the detailed possibilities. Appreciate that a bunch. I would love to get out and shoot some winter stuff. Im going to head back out to Veda sometime this week. Are there any winter shoot areas down that way?
Todd-and Morris -I will be careful of Stan :) I will be going thru Teton and Yellowstone several times this summer. I have to return to Idaho to do my fly fish guide thing :) It is rough but someone has too. I will be hitting the Snowies for some back packing trips too. I have not been this close to backpacking in a long time. Have to get my fat body ready however :)
Eric I want to get to the Canyon Lands, Arches etc sometime this year--not sure when as of yet and would love to go out and shoot or head this way sometime and we can shoot something in between us.
Dave--loved the Ghost town stuff--thats one of my goals this year is to hit some Ghost Towns. Like the old stuff :)
Richard and Rene' if things go as planned I want to make it to the shin dig and meet you all. Thanks for the inivite.
So many places and so little time and Money :)
Thanks again for the warm welcome. If anyone wants to go shoot I'm game.
Everyones photo's are top notch!! Scared to post now he he

Welcome Lynn,
Someone already mentioned the Poudre Canyon (CO-Hwy 9). If you proceed over the pass and down towards Walden, the Arapahoe NWR contains a large herd of moose. The area is also a favorite for wildflowers in the summer.
When you get a chance, why don't you set up your email and Web addresses in the member preferences, so we can contact you more directly?
Welcome Lynn. You will find this is a great group on this forum. If your looking for someone to head out shooting with, i'm always game for outings, so feel free to ping me.
