I finally got some 4x5's processed and worked up a couple. This was made in late October just east of the chapel.

I always appreciate your thoughts.

Hey Preston!

This is fabulous! What a great and honestly refreshing Big Leaf Maple and autumn image. There's so much that I'm loving about this one, but what stands out to me is the pale yellow and browns at the bottom of the image that are echoing the fallen leaves of autumn and contrast nicely with the vibrant color of the leaves yet to fall. I'm also really enjoying the variety of trees and especially their trunks - from the oak to the maple to the ponderosa? on the right. Toss in some granite decorations and this image just pulls together beautifully for me. Can't wait to see this in print next time around.

My only suggestion would be to selectively burn down the small cluster of bright yellow leaves on the left edge, center - minor detail.

Great to see an image from you. Hope there's more coming.

Very nice Preston. Like Lon, I really enjoy the yellows and browns at the bottom of the frame. The yellows and greens mixed together in the trees add a lot as well. I also like a 4x5 horizontal of the bottom, but the vertical works well too

I'm afraid I can only echo the the comments above regarding the contrast between the green and yellow leaves. Additionally my eye is enjoying the texture of the trees and the inclusion of the FG area.
I'm afraid I wouldn't have notices the small hot spot on the left, but once it is called to the viewers attention it becomes larger than "life".
Hope you processed additonal images of Yosemite. Going over there this coming weekend and hoping for snow.

I am loving this, Preston! Excellent. Looks like those pesky leaves held still for you, too.

Preston,

Just lovin' those beautiful Big Leafs and the color contrast of yellow and green. I want to walk through this image right on the left side of those big trunks.

Comp, color and exposure all look good to me. I just wish there were a little more fresh leaves at the bottom... that make it perfect for me. Nice work!

Many thanks for your kind comments, everyone.

I'll see what I can do with those leaves on the left. They bother me a little, as well.

Eric: I would have liked more of a 'leaf carpet', too, but more leaves on the ground means fewer on the tree. I suppose I could have shaken the trees to drop some leaves.

Well seen, and well captured. This is a beautiful image. I like the transitional stage.

Good find, Preston! Who says you still can't find something new in the park?
