Hi All,
Just a heads up...the Epson Store is currently offering an instant $100 rebate and free shipping on their Artisan 810 (all in one), which brings the cost down to $200. This wireless-capable printer/fax/copier/scanner prints double-sided as well as having the ability to print on "printable" CDs/DVDs. You must purchase between 1/10 and 1/16/10. This is a top of the line all-in-one for those of you running home businesses.
Bret Edge turned me on to this model and I've been very pleased so far.

Also available at Best Buy for $199 and if you use Bing Cashback you can get 5% to 15% cashback on the purchase plus you'll accrue Best Buy Rewards points toward a $5.00 Best Buy gift card. Oh, and use your rewards credit card to get a few more points toward something free.
As a side note, I love the printer. It's a scanner, it's a fax, it's a printer, it's a copier. It prints on CD's and DVD's too, which is really super cool and makes for a much more professional appearance than the old Sharpie. Coolest thing: it does it all wirelessly. I've already got enough darn wires under my desk.

How does it do photos? Obviously, probably not like a "real" photo printer...but I wonder how it compares with an HP Photosmart high-end consumer (not pro) printer. I suppose if I did some research I could find something out about comparable ink costs.

Excellent question Linnet,
I have both an HP Photosmart D7360 printer (6 ink) and now the Epson Artisan 810 (6 ink). I loaded into Photoshop a fairly complex image of a cornucopia with a multitude of colored gourds and corn arranged around. I then tried both HP Premium Plus High Gloss and Epson Enhanced Matte papers in both printers. Both printers were set to essentially the same configuration (high quality modes and appropriate paper settings) and both printers controlled the color (has worked very well for the HP).
While both did relatively well, the HP print did slightly better for both papers. The color reproduction was virtually identical. The HP was slightly cooler and the Epson slightly warmer than my LCD display, but this was hardly noticeable except to the trained eye. The shadows in both Epson prints were darker and a bit more blocked up than the HP. Both HP prints matched the tonal range of the display much more closely. There was just a hint of metamerism in the glossy print for the Epson, that improved a lot as the ink dried. The HP print had no issues with this.
Not claiming this was a very scientific, properly executed or balanced test, but it was quick! In a nutshell, I'd still prefer the HP over the Epson for quality prints, but the Epson performed fine for more casual printing - in other words, I would not sell prints generated from the Epson, but definitely from the HP.
