Red deer in forest
Forest Reds are the most beautiful mammals here in cheese land. Very shy but also very rewarding.

Beautiful image and as always with your reds, a completely new and refreshing type of image. Great eye contact, lines, comp and subtle lighting. Fab :toast:

Great shot Edwin, I love the tree lines in the background but I would get rid of the snow on the deers face imho.

I have come back to this several times as I found it had something about it which just didn't sit right with me. I think the setting is great and indeed very evocative but the stags pose didn't quite work and Ian has hit the nail on the head. The stag appears to have one leg. Having photographed dogs and horses many times in the past .... the side on pose making the animals look two legged just doesn't work and it's the same with this shot.
