Seems bird photography rules for the moment on our forum. I've been away from taking photos for so long, I feel like I need to share while I've got something to show.
This is the same bittern that was in my series of photos with the hawk, but before it all went down.

A great shot Ryan. after years of seeing bitterns I am still amazed at the the striking plumage colors and markings that make camouflage this birds primary form of defense (other then getting poked in the eye by that lethal beak.) It is very easy to walk or drive right past one standing in native grasses and never even spot them, truly an amazing example of natures work.
I love the pose and detail in this shot as well as the habitat.... Well Done!

I'm loving the birds. Craig is the only PNWNP I know of who takes a lot of bird shots; he needs some company!
Gorgeous detail, and I love the subtle colors in the feathers. You've got to love those feet...

Ryan, this looks great. It's nice to see this guy with no stray grasses in front of him, like I usually get him... This is clean and crisp. I really like it.
