Tough times in these parts for many creatures. The snow has been deep on the ground for a month now. As a result we are seeing fewer migrants than usual and it really is a case of survival of the fittest for those that live here all year round. The hares have mostly been conserving energy holed up between walls and snow drifts where they can get some shelter. I've tried to keep my distance from them so they don't use up valuable energy running away (hence the long focal length here).

a simple but effective composition. I do wonder what the hares (and rabbits) eat in this weather, I hope a thaw is imminent.
Could the hare do with a bit more sharpening?

A really stunning image Simon, love the isolation here!

Matt, the Hares and Rabbits are simply digging in the snow to get at whatever frozen grass they can. The braver and more resourceful ones are finding their way into field barns or are getting in amongst the sheep to grab some hay or silage but I've found many dead rabbits (probably not too bad a thing given the numbers we have).
I'll try another sharpen on it, the atmosphere was a bit thick following a blizzard so with the 2x TC on it does have a certain cloudiness to it.
Nits covered and a good use of space/isolation to show the bleakness of the surroundings. Judging from his body posture he probably trotted off soon after anyway but I commend your thoughtfulness and empathy
