I was actually set up to photograph crested tits when this woodpecker flew into the pines further back,I would have preferred something a little wider but quite like this.

That is a beauty Craig. One of the best of this seasons snow shots in my opinion. The lighting is beautiful and the splash of colour really makes it. Outstanding.

Love this Craig, I have been after an image like this for a while but the snow really makes it.

Superb shot, great detail and just a lovely composition.

Excellent! I wonder what it would look like with the pecker a little higher in the frame? I love the way the snow is clinging to one side of the trees.

Cool shot, but when the subject is so small, normal sharpening usually results in a halo. I think you need to re-think the processing, at least for web presentation.

Nice splash of colour and good to see a different approach to the composition as well.

Excellent Craig - conveys a real sense of the harshness of the environment that much of our wildlife is currently experiencing
Lovely shot Craig though I'd echo TT comments about it being improved if it were a little higher in the frame. Although not a great fan of the 'rule of thirds' being applied religiously I do think that applying this rule to the verticals as well as the horizontals would benefit the image on this occasion. Still a cracker though!

Super composition indeed and a lovely image, just wondered if it is possible tone down the snow on the tree trunk.
