Hi all
Simple image but not sure if it works or not. Is it too central or does the tree in the background balance it out? Interesting to see what others think about this.
Light was very dire so will have to go down again to make the most of the snow. More images on my blog.
Comments and crits welcome.

Might be tempted to have an almost clean canvas (ie the slight hint of colour but without the trees) and position if possible towards top left, coming in to frame, but still retaining the foreground/horizon. Like it.

Nice action Ian, and I like the way the wings frame the head. I would vote to have the bird further to the left as well.

Bit left for me too, but no big issue. Good shot.

It's well caught so I applaud that though I'd be tempted to crop along the horizon which will both straighten the image and lose the slightly distracting, bright white field whilst retaining the tree outlines. Cropping from the left also as suggested would benefit the image imho.
Otherwise good stuff

Lovely image of the bird, but a slight crop from the lh side would improve the picture in my opinion. I agree with Julian that a slight rotation may also help. The horizon may be as seen, but as a viewer it makes me feel uncomfortable.
A picture well worthy of the effort required.
